MICHAEL HENRY DONNELLY (deceased)was for many years prominently identified with theindustrial and business interests of New Britainand Berlin. He was of foreign birth, but his dutiesof citizenship were performed with a loyalty equalto that of any native son of America, and he did allin his power to advance the interests of his adoptedtown and county . Mr. Donnelly was born in County Tyrone, Ire-land, May 19, 1846, a son of Patrick Donnelly, whowas born in the same place in 1810. The grand-father, Michael Donnelly, was a native of CountyTyrone, where he spent his entire life as a tenant,. He married a Miss Woods, and thechildren born to them were Patrick, Peter, John,Michael, Daniel, Rosa, Katie, Ellen and Eliza. Patrick Donnelly, father of our subject, was oneof the most successful farmers of his community,and was a man of good business ability. After hismarriage he purchased two good farms adjoininghis fathers place, and in his native land continuedto make his home until called from this life, inFebruary, 1896. He was a quiet, unassuming man,but made many friends. He married CatherineWoods, daughter of Patrick Woods (whose familywas in no way related to Mr. Donnellys maternal an-cestors), and to this union eight children were born:Michael, Patrick, Peter, John, Daniel, Elizabeth,Katie, a
