The pink jequitibá - is one of the tallest trees in Brazil, being the largest in the Atlantic Forest. Pink Jequitiba.
At 42 meters high, the equivalent of a 13-story building, the largest pink jequitibá in the State of São Paulo can be seen in Santa Rita do Passa Quatro (SP). He is affectionately known as the 'Patriarch'. Studies carried out by agronomists and biologists have determined that the tree has been in place for over 600 years. It takes at least nine adults to embrace it. The species can be found in the southeast, midwest and northeastern parts of the country. It is one of the largest trees in the Atlantic Forest and needs a large amount of light and water to develop, as well as fertile land. The soil has to be very deep, as the roots can reach 15 meters.
