Sow in a hot-bed very early in the spring, and when the plants are \wo or three inches high, transplant, so as to get stocky and well-rooted plants. Do not plant out until the â weather becomes settled and warm. Give them a deep, rich soil, and full exposure to the sun. When they first germinate they are verv sensitive to damp and to being chilled, and the amateur often fails to raise them, even with his own hot-bed. To obviate this we will have a supply of strong potted plants from the middle of May to the first*of Juiy. New York Improved. This is the leading market variety everywhere. When nearly full grown, they must be blanched. This is done by gathering the leaves together, and'tying with yarn or bass, to exclude the light and air from the inner leaves, which must be done when quite dry, or they will rot Moss Curled.
