Becket by Edward Bainbridge Copnall (1903 - 1973) Thomas Becket (1118 - 1170) was the 40th Archibishop of Canterbury and is regarded as a saint and martyr by the Roman Catholic Church. He argued with the current ruler Henry II over the rights and privileges of the Church and was assasinated by the followers of the king. The statue unveiled in 1973 shows his last dying moments.
