Air Force Staff Sgt. Jon Peek, 58th Aircraft Maintenance Unit crew chief, marshals an F-35A Lightning II from the 33rd Fighter Wing Nov. 14, 2017, at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The 33 FW supported Checkered Flag 18-1, a large scale air-to-air only exercise that emphasizes the execution and production of tactics between fourth and fifth generation aircraft. Checkered Flag is one of the few exercises where fifth generation aircraft participate as aggressors, allowing for realistic training against peer-like adversaries. ( Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
