This wonderful medium late potato was raised from seed borne on the Dunmore, impreg- nated with pollen from the Excelsior, originated in Vermont, and was introduced by us its 1885. That it is an extraordinars' and exceedingly valuable variety there is not a doubt. Its; handsome form, white skin and large size recommend it everywhere. The flesh is white and fine grained, cooks dry and mealy, and is of superior flavor. This is the case when first dug, and they retain their good cooking qualities and keep sound and perfect until the new crop- comes again. As a variety to keep for late spring uso it has no equal. Vines grow vig- orously, foliage deep green, the tubers grow compactly in the hill, which is completely crowded witll fine, large potatoes. They ripen in August if planted in April, and in the important matter of productiveness they are perfectly marvelous. This quality com- bined, as it is, with fine appearance and good table qualities, makes the Green Mountain one of the most valuable late varieties in the country', and is supplanting all other late potatoes in sections where it has been introduced.
