McCulloch, Esq., a grand-son of Isaac Zane—the last from Colonel John Johnston. Isaac Zane was bom about the year 1753,on the south branch of the Potomac, in Vir-ginia, and at the age of about 9 years wastaken prisoner by the Wyandots, and carriedto Detroit. He remained with his captorsuntil the age of manhood, when, like mostprisoners taken in youth, he refused to returnto his home and friends. He married a Wy-andot woman from Canada, of half Frenchblood, and took no part in the war of therevolution. After the treaty of Greenville,in 1795, he bought a tract of 1,800 acres, onthe site of Zanesfield, where he lived untilhis death in 1816. James McPherson, or Squa-la-kake,the red-faced man, was a native of Car-lisle, Cumberland county, Pa. He was takenprisoner by the Indians on the Ohio, at ornear the mouth of the Big Miami, in Lough-ry
