Further than this, undertook the building of large electriclocomotives for experimental work. Another branchof electricity, in which of late Mr. Sprague has madea remarkable success, is that of electric express ele-vators, and his system, which promises a revolutionin the elevator industiy, will be found in many ofthe finest office buildings, hotels, etc., on this conti-nent. Of his railway inventions and apparatus made an interesting exhibit at the ParisUniversal exposition of, 1889, where it was honoredwith high awards. In 1885 Mr. Sprague marriedMary Keatinge, daughter of Dr. Harriette Kea-tinge, of New Orleans, and has one son. In theintervals of his work Mr. Sprague has found timefor several papers read before learned and tech-nical societies, on electric motors, railways and power. transmission, and for active participation in profes-sional expert and consultation work.
