The battle "Batalha dos Atoleiros" 1384 was extremely important for Portugals further independence of kingdom Castilla and for its self confidence for the final victory. Every year in April it is recreated by actors and theater groups at the original battle field in Fronteira at the Alentejo. Besides the battle there is a medieval market, tournaments and other shows around the history of this important event.
