Type: Very decorative early 19th century antique hand-coloured engraved map. Text in French. This fascinating map shows the United States, which at the date of publication in 1825 consisted of 24 states. Also shown are a number of unincorporated territories including Oregon Territory, Michigan Territory (later the state of Michigan), North West Territory (later Wisconsin Territory), and the Territories of Arkansas and Florida, which had not yet achieved statehood. The south eastern part of what is now the United States and Texas - then part of Mexico - were later incorporated into the United States after the Mexican-American war.
