This superb strain, of American origin and especially adapted to our climatic conditions, has long been one of our leading specialties, extraordinary care being given each season to the selection of the very finest specimens for stock seed, resulting in a strain that is acknowledged by the leading growers as unsurpassed. The plants form strong, branching bushes, 2 to CL\ feet high, bearing on long, strong stems (heir handsome Chrysanthemum- like flowers, which, under ordinary cultivation, average 5 inches across. The form of the flowers, which is nicely shown in the illustration on the plate opposite, together with the length of the stems, places them at the head of Asters for cutting. They come into bloom from two to three weeks after the average type, usually being at their best during September and October, and filling in the gap between the general run of Asters and Chrysanthemums, and if only one variety of Asters is wanted, we rec- ommend this type as the most likely to give the greatest satisfaction.
