Automated DNA amplification. A technician prepares samples to be placed in a cBot machine, an automated system for amplifying DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) samples before sequencing. Amplification is achieved with PCR (polymerase chain reaction), a biochemical technology used to generate thousands to millions of copies of a particular DNA sequence. Photographed at Genoscope National Sequencing Centre, University of Evry, France.
