The life of Mr. Louis Sherman affords a fitting example of this kind, ashe is still a very young man, but has arrived at a stage of prosperity whichwotdd ordinarily occupy the allotted three score years and ten. Mr. Sherman was born in Mjnsker, Guberne, Russia, October 15, 1884,the son of Benny and Sarah Sherman, his father being a prominent cattledealer. He came to America in the fall of 1903, landing in Xew York, wherehe began to work at the carpenter trade, which he had learned in Russia. Hecontinued for three and one-half years, during which time his salary wasalmost trebled. Having saved a small amount of capital, he went to St. Marys, Ohio, 273. ?and opened a junk yard. After two years he decided to specialize in whole-sale iron and also opened a furniture store, which he is today successfullyoperating under the title of Empire Furniture Company. Mr. Sherman was married in 1907 to Miss Becky Manowitz, and theyhave two small sons, hoth going to school. There are hundreds outside the family of Mr. Sherman who have hadreason to rejoice in his success, as both himself and wife are liberal contrib-utors to charity of both local and national character. Among the institutionsof which they are patrons, we wish to mention the Denver and Los Angelessanitariums. That a man with such meager opportunities should have achieved such ahigh position in the business and social life of his community in such a shortperiod of time should be an inspiration to others starting in life under c
