Tomb of Queen Margrete I of Denmark, Dom Kyrka (Cathedral), Roskilde, Sjælland (Zealand), Denmark.

Queen Margrete I (1353-1412) was originally buried at Sorø Abbey. Her remains were transferred to Roskilde in 1413. During the Dano Swedish wars her relics were removed to "Uppsala Cathedral" in Sweden, where they still remain. Her damaged sarcophagus, which had its decoration removed in the late 18th century, was restored between 1862 and 1912. Roskilde was the capital of Denmark until 1400 and the Cathedral has been the burial place for generations of Danish monarchs.
