Cretaceous dinosaurs and tornado. Illustration of flying reptiles and horned dinosaurs with a tornado generated by dark storm clouds, moving across a body of water. The flying reptiles are pterosaurs, existing from 228 to 66 million years ago, from the late Triassic to the end of the Cretaceous. They flew with wings formed from a membranous structure stretched between the ankles and a lengthened finger. The horned dinosaurs are Triceratops dinosaurs. These dinosaurs were around 3 metres tall at the shoulder. They are an example of a horned, beaked cerapod (ceratopsian) and were herbivorous with a neck frill. They lived around 68 million years ago, during the Cretaceous. The species shown here are the pterosaur Pteranodon ingens and the ceratopsian Triceratops horridus (an adult and two young), both dating from the Late Cretaceous.
