ALCOI, SPAIN: Women dressed int he style of Grenada. THE FLAMBOYANT festival that relives Christians conquering Muslims in Spain has been captured this weekend. From armoured knights of the cross and fearsome eastern assassins to swordswomen and exotic-looking belly dancers, pictures show how the centuries-old festival still attracts thousands of enthusiastic revellers. Participants dressed in elaborate costumes in the Spanish town of Alcoi for the “Moros y Cristianos” festival, which recalls the 15th Century reconquest of the country by Christian armies from the Islamic Kingdom of Granada.
