In the distance yellowish polders, dotted with cattle,extend to slaty-purple hills, which lie across a high horizon beneath a violet-gray sky. Signed and dated <<t the lower left, John F. In the meadow, thus enclosed atthe right, is a clump of willows, to two of which a pole is fixed. Upon thishang some garments, while a woman stoops to spread some linen on the weals a white cap, old rose waist, blue apron and brown skirt. Seenacross the water behind her is a little church. Farther to the left stand twobrown cottages with olive thatch. A boat with brown sails appears at theleft of the water. Signed at the lower right, V. Bauffk.
