Nurseri^g. Montebello from greatly exceeding the demand, and the shipping business furnished an out- let for a good deal of stock. Carnations, especially the white varieties, were held back for Mothers' day, and this caused a decided shortage in the local market for several days. Some of the shippers reported that they could not get the flowers to fill their orders for out-of- town delivery. There is little change in the rose situation since the last report. Good roses sell at moderate prices, while the shorter stock and inferior blooms have to be cleared at low figures. The aver- age quality is excellent. Iris is in full crop and is having a good demand, but the cut will probably begin to decline within ten or fourteen days. Gladioli are seen liere and there, but the light offerings do not cut much figure in the market. Peonies are arriving in gener- ous lots. The colored blooms are given preference over the white ones and bring higher prices. A few fine poppies have put in an appearance. Daisies are plentiful, and the supply of delphiniums, calceolarias, coreopsis, cornflowers and otlier outdoor stock is increasing from day to day.
