Napoleon III wanted to attach his name to the achievement of the Grand Design of Henry IV: bringing the Louvre to the Tuileries. In this retrospective chart dated 1865, the architect Visconti (d. 1853) presents the imperial couple plan for completion of the Louvre was decided in 1852. The scene takes place at the Tuileries. Visconti's successor, Lefuel is shown far right, a work table.
