Two ice axes are placed in the grassy ground, as a memorial on the mountaineers cemetery of Talkeetna, Alaska. Every year 1200 to 1500 climbers try to climb Mount McKinley, the highest mountain of northern America, situated in Denali National Park. Not all of the alpinists succeed. Bad weather and illness force 50 percent to abandon their ascent prematurely. Many mountaineers get injured, some even are killed in an accident. This special corner of the cemetery in Talkeetna is dedicated to the lost climbers in the Alaska mountain range.
