The frost has pene- trated to a depth of four and one-half to six feet, and many water mains at these depths are frozen in Boston and surrounding towns and cities. It is, at last, possible for the street venders to ply their vocation, and this has given an improved tone to the market. During the continued low temperature street sales were out of the question. Mention The Review when you wnte. This caused an unprecedented accumu- lation of surplus stock in the whole- sale markets, carnations being the greatest glut. While prices are now a little better on carnations, they con- tinue low for February and the arrival of Lent is hardly likely to improve them. Flowers which should have sold at $3 per hundred were hard to move at $1.
