TREATMENT OF OTITIS, DRAWING

A yoyo-shaped device is available for use in otitis, for the evacuation of pus and the restitution of proper ventilation of the middle ear, thus eliminating conduction deafness. The insertion of a transtympanic aerator establishes communication between the external ear and the middle ear. Microscopy is used to insert the aerator, following perforation of the eardrum. The patient may retain the drain for 6 months to 1 year.
