Ek' Balam is a pre-Columbian archaeological site in municipality of Temozón in Yucatán, Mexico. The people who lived in and built this city belonged to those of the Maya civilization. Ek’ Balam was rediscovered and explored first by influential archaeologist Désiré Charnay in the late 1800s but extensive excavation did not take place until a century later.
