CARNATIONS—NOVELTIES EOR 1902. Never since we have been growing seedling carnations have we been able to lay before our customers as satisfactory a list of new varieties as we shall introduce this year. We have good stocks of most of these new varieties, but each year that we have been growing carnations has impressed upon us the fact that more care should be used with the propagation of novelties, and that the best results in introducing a new carnation will be secured by sending out only strong, vigorous, well-selected stock. With this end in view, we shall not be able to propagate as large a quantity of plants from our new sorts as has been customary heretofore; consequently we have concluded to place the price of our introductions at $ per 100, $ per 250, $ per 500, and $ per 1,000. While we place our date of delivery as March, we shall be able to deliver a limited number of good cuttings during the month of February. On all early orders we will ship a fair proportion of the stock that we are able to produce for February delivery, and will then fill the balance of the order from the later delivery, thus insuring each of our customers a fair proportion of the early struck stock. The object we are seeking in the introduction of our new varieties is to give them as wide a distribution as possible, and thus secure for them a thorough trial throughout all parts of the country, so that the trade may become informed as early as possible as to the true commercial value of each variety in the several sections of the country.
