David Hewer of Customs and Excise inspecting Vigilant, a 1902 steam and sail revenue cutter that has been bought by a charity for restoration . HMRC Vigilant is the sole surviving vessel from the 1911 Spithead Review and was converted to a private yacht in 1920. She later became a houseboat based at Shoreham before being bought and restored by the Vigilant Trust in 1992. She is now moored at Faversham. 8 June 1992 Picture by Roger Bamber
