Global water vapour simulation. Series of images showing the simulated monthly averaged distribution of the total column water vapour in the Earth's atmosphere. The images were obtained from a high-resolution configuration of the Community Atmosphere Model of the Community Climate System Model. Accurate modelling is needed because water vapour in the atmosphere can influence the climate. This work is being carried out at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA. Image published in 2009.
