It has, however, occurred in Haddington- shire, Aberdeenshire and Banffshire; Mr. Harvie-Brown has iden- tified a -bird shot on the Findhorn ; Mr. Buckley admits a record from San day, Orkneys, in 1849; and Mr. Service is aware of an occurrence on the Scottish side of the Solway. In Ireland one has been obtained near Belfast; Mr. R. Warren has killed two and has seen a few others on the Moy estuary in autumn, and even in winter, between 1867 and 1888; while of late years the bird has been met with on several occasions along the coast of co.
