Theoutput of each compound 6-pole machine is 300 kw. at 525 to 575volts when running at a speed of 375 r. p. m. The generator issupported on a cast iron frame, which also supports the outwardbearing, the whole being secured by four foundation bolts. Theswitchboard consists of five panels, three generating and two feederpanels, and is situated on the floor at the end of the engine TYPE OF C.\R. The panels are of marble fitted to a steel frame and have the usualstandard forms of instruments, switches, etc The cables from eachof the generators are led into a trench, which runs along the endsof the generators and terminates behind the switchboard. .\ lo-ton traveling crane spans the engine room at a height of15 ft.
