Max Kaiser sent an odd wreath, of poinsettias, most artistically arranged. Holman Gerdes' spray of Richmond and narcissi was much admired. Many other pieces, too numerous to mention, were in the finest of condition. MTLWAUEEE, WIS. The Market. The New Year's business, taken as a whole, was more satisfactory than the Christmas business proportionately. Of course, the volume was not nearly 80 great as at Christmas, but sales were better all around. Stock was not 80 plentiful, although there was enough to take care of all orders. After the Christmas clean-up, the stock that came to the market and was quite good, and this fact helped considerably to dispose of the cut. This year the burden has been en- tirely on the wholesalers, as the retail- ers have been buying much closer than ever before at a holiday. Inasmuch as stock was plentiful, they felt per- fectly safe in buying from hand to mouth, and did not take many chances on future sales. The absence of the usual slump fol- lowing the holiday rush seems to augur well for the months to come. Roses seem to be in fine condition. While the cut has diminished to some extent, the quality is high and the stock is moving readilj'. Carnations are still in large sup
