Planted largely in all warm countries, on account of its malaria de- stroying qualities. Remarkably good for fuel, being easily sawed and split. occidental is—A native of Western Australia; timber is valuable and the tree re- sists drought. A very thrifty and attractive tree. polyanthema—A moderate grower, perfectly hardy. Timber very valuable for underground work, being remarkably hard and durable. One of the handsomest of the family, very graceful in habit; foliage silver-gray. robusta—Well adapted to low ground and also to the driest locations; very symmetrical in habit, branches directly opposite in regular whorls; foliage large, of a deep, glossy green color; flowers large creamy-white.
