British ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Timothy Peake (born 1972, in foreground) during cave training in 2012. ESA's cave training prepares astronauts to work as a team in real exploration conditions. The training, which takes place in caves on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia, allows astronauts to get used to confined spaces, minimal privacy, technical challenges, and limited equipment and supplies. Peake is scheduled to join Expedition 46 to the International Space Station (ISS), launching in November or December 2015.
