The Bangor of to-day is the third city in the Pine Tree state with a population of over25,000 people. It is a city of many fine residences and one of its greatest attractions, is themany places of interest to lovers of nature, which lie in and around it. Lovers Leap, a spota mile or more above the city is a point always visited by people from away, and all along. ON THi; FRONT. Kendiiskeag stream there are found many rare bits of scenery. A new and beautifulsection recently opened is the bicycle path which runs from a point near Broadwayover the road bed of the old Veazie railroad to the shores of Pusbaw lake. This path isabout seven miles long and is owned by the Niben club, and it is said to be one of the finestpaths in the country. At its terminus is a handsome and finely appointed club house. The Penobscot has been for many years the only salmon river on the Atlantic coast anda large and profitable business is done during the open season, in supplying the big marketswith the king of fish. It is but a few jears ago that the first salmon was taken with a rodand fly from the pool below the water works dam, this important event having occurred inthe spring of 1885.
