Pancreatic lithiasis. Light micrograph of a section through tissue from the pancreas, showing the presence of mineral deposits known as stones (rounded objects). The formation of these stones is known as lithiasis. The stones are usually only discovered after death and the condition is rarely diagnosed. It can be caused by chronic inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis).
