The legs are not swollen, and the Kjdv i-, j wingv are clothed with hairs which are easily rubbed off. In this country these flies have n^t K-en vvsicmatitiliv studied with great care. There are nianv species, hovKever, and some of them are known only by the work of their larv*. About one hundred species have been dc^crlbcd in the United States. The larvx differ con- siderably in their habits, but most of them for^l galls ⢠.n tht twigs or leaves of ditTcrcnt plant:-.
