Atacama Desert, Chile- 26 May 2018 This started off as an image showing in close-up the door to the tiny Toconau Church bell tower in the Atacama Desert. Unusually, the door seems to be made of dead cactus fibre, which lasts for ever in the ultra-dry climate. But then I got adventurous and turned the image into something more colorful and abstract, using a combination of Photoshop techniques including multi-layer blending, transformations and gradient mapping. Sometimes this process produces results which are utterly unrecognisably mutated from the original - like this. I hope you like it!
