AT MEJDAN (PRESENT DAY MUSIC PAVILION) The Music Pavillion in Sarajevo was built in 1913, and project was made by Josip Pospišil. It was built in the area which had been changing names and function several times during the history. At first, in 17th century here was a hippodrome (so it was named Atmjedan, turc: At – horse), which in the 1878 was converted into Filipovic square (later to be built Filipovic barracks above the square), and then in 1905 was turned into a park of Francis Joseph. During the Yugoslavia it was called Park Cara Dušana (Park of Emperor Dušan), and today it bears the original name Atmejdan. At mejdan and Music pavillion This is the only musical pavilion in Sarajevo today, out of four, earlier in the history. Music Pavilion was demolished in the beginning of World War II and was renovated in 2004 by the municipality of Stari Grad (Old Town). Concept of the outlook of the new music pavilion, based on the drawings from the Austro-Hungarian period is done by the professor Nedžad Kurto.
