Rosebush Slate Quarry is a former slate quarry located in the village of Rosebush in the county of Pembrokeshire, Wales. The quarry operated from the mid-19th century until the early 20th century, and at its peak, it was one of the largest slate quarries in Wales. The quarry produced high-quality roofing slates that were renowned for their durability and distinctive purple-grey color. The slate was used in many prestigious buildings throughout the UK, including the Houses of Parliament in London and the Albert Memorial in Manchester. The quarry was worked by a series of small-scale operators who employed local men to extract the slate from the mountainside. The slate was extracted using traditional methods, including hand drilling, blasting, and hand splitting. The slate was then transported from the quarry by horse-drawn carts and later by rail.
