Oil refinery. This is the steam cracking area. Steam cracking uses high temperature and steam to break down (crack) heavy gas oil into gases such as ethene. This is one of the major raw materials used in the chemical industry. Heavier products from the steam cracker are blended into fuel mixes such as petrol.
