Trakai Island Castle, Lithuania

A view of Lithuania's Trakai Island Castle in early summer. The 14th century castle was built on three islands of Lake Galvé as the main residence of Grand Duke Kestutis. Reconstructed in the 20th century in a 15th century style, Trakai Island Castle is a major tourist attraction and houses the Trakai History Museum. Trakai was the capital of the Dukedom of Lithuania until it moved to Vilnius in the early 16th century.
