Dinosaur and bird legs. Illustration of the legs of a Tyrannosaurus rex (left), an emu (centre) and a Diplodocus (right). T. rex was a carnivorous predator, a theropod dinosaur that lived around 68 million years ago during the Cretaceous. Diplodocus was a herbivorous sauropod dinosaur that lived 154 to 150 million years ago, during the Jurassic. Birds are descended from feathered dinosaurs. Emus (Dromaius novaehollandiae) are omnivorous flightless birds found only in Australia. Both emus and T. rex are bipedal and run on land. Diplodocus was a large quadruped, that walked on all fours and may also have been able to rise up on its hind legs.
