Two isolated Scots Pine trees (Pinus sylvestris) cast long converging shadows in the early morning sun on a snowy winter day in Aberdeenshire

Haddo Estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland was once the largest agricultural estate in Europe. Despite its comparativeley low altitude it regularly expereinces snow and cold winter temperatures due to its location on the east of the country. The photographs were taken as part of a 'Year in the Life' project for the Estate owner, Lord Aberdeen. As the sun moved around, the shadows of the trees converged giving the impression they were almost leaning in to each other for a kiss.
