The raising of small fruits, especially, isi rapidly-increasing and profitable industry. Large areas are being appropri-ated to vineyards, and large quantities of grapes are annually shipped to thenorthern markets. Fruit growing and stock raising rank as the most profitableindustries of the county. The Southern, Chesapeake and Ohio, and the Fredericksburg railways afford. GRAPE GROWING IN VIRGINIA. excellent transportation facilities to all parts of the county. Minerals are iron, gold, asbestos, fire clay, marble and limestone, some of whichhave been successfully worked. The supply of timber is very good, consisting of oak, hickoiy, walnut,lpine,chestnut, poplar and sycamore. The county is abundantly watered by the Rapidanand North Anna rivers, and their numerous tributaries, which also afford excellentwater power. Climate, health and water are all that could be desired, and churches of thedifferent denominations are numerous and conveniently located. Public andprivate schools afford abundant educational facilities. This county, with its great diversity of agricultural products, fine fruit andgrazing facilities, fine water, pure mountain air, and ready access to good markets, 183 is a very desirable section for home seekers who want to engage in agriculturalpursuits.
