Army Staff Sgt. Raul Canedo and Lt. Col. Dylan W. Malcomb cut grass during the 1st Battalion, 210th Aviation Regiment’s Juneteenth Unity through Community event at the historic Elmerton Cemetery in Hampton, Virginia, June 19, 2021. The Elmerton Cemetery is an African American cemetery in the city of Hampton where many prominent community members are buried, such as Mary E. Peake - an educator who taught many enslaved African Americans to read and write at a point in history when it was illegal to do so.
