A top down view of the lesser yellow underwing (Noctua comes) resting on a leaf in a garden habitat. The flight period is July to September with a single brood each year. This species is a member of the noctuidae family and is found throughout the UK, Europe and the palearctic ecozone. The larval food plants are a range of plants, trees and shrubs. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in September.
