Orchid flower (Encyclia sima, also known as Anacheilium simum). The flower has a specialised petal called a lip (here it has pink lines and points upwards). The lip attracts pollinators to the flower. This orchid is found in tropical America in Panama and Colombia. It is an epiphytic orchid (one that grows in trees). There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
