Material from Madagascar, here referred to E. labyrinthicus, includes specimens larger than any known from the Prairie Bluff Chalk or the Valudavur Forma- tion ( Collignon 1971: 15, pi. 645, (fig. 2388), as Baculites simplex—herein Fig. 6; Cottreau, 1922: 180, pi. 9 (fig. 11), as Baculites vagina var. otacodensis).
