Thetwo insulators on the upper cross-bar, and the insulator onthe top of the pole carry No. 4 bare copper wire for ththigh-tension current. Each of these insulators is locatedso that the wire it carries is 28 ins. away from the nearesthigh-tension conductor. The cross-arms are 3 ft. 4 , 4 ins. wide, and are placed 1 ft. 10 ins. apart. Theupper cross-arm is I ft. 10 ins. from the top of the TWO 400-KW INVERTED ROTARIES AT READING POWER STATION There is also a bracket carrying a Xo. 10 signal wire, forthe block system, beneath the span wire. The signal boxesare placed on the pole at each turnout, 5 ft. above thetrack level, within easy reach of the train man. The tele-phone wires, which are carried on the opposite pole line.
