Rhabdomyomata may arise in structures normally containing striated-musclefibres, but are usually heterologous. The facts that the majority of these tumors are found in situations devoidnormally of muscle, where the various infoldings of the different germ layers arevery complicated, and that they occm* frequently at birth or shortly after, sug-gest that they arise from misplaced muscle rests derived from the primitivemyotomes.
