The sum of $15,000 was expended upon theroads and bridges. The debt this year was $99,429. Towards the close of the year Doctor John Green and the Lyceumand Library Association offered to give, upon certain conditions, to thecity, libraries containing respectively 7,000 and 4,500 volumes, to formthe nucleus of a public library.
