He represents Vairocana, the primordial cosmic Buddha. The hand gesture of the Dharma Wheel is a characteristic feature of Tathagata Vairocana and Shakyamuni. He is assisted by two bodhisattvas. The 200 Buddhas surrounding the central figure are gilded with gold leaf
